On the morning of Friday, April 4, the Fort Davis community gathered to send off students heading to Austin for the Texas State History Fair competition.
At 8:10 a.m., the student qualifiers—Nubia Nunez, Elsa Damm, Abbey Corbin, Miranda Hernandez, Eramin Ramos, and Adelyn Lopez—were escorted through town, where residents lined the sidewalks to cheer and wave them off.
The event served as a show of support for the students and their sponsor, Sara Pittman, as they advanced to the state-level competition representing Fort Davis ISD.
