Alpine is one step closer to gaining national recognition for its rich history. The city is partnering with Post Oak Preservation Solutions to create a National Register of Historic Places district—an honorary designation that will help preserve and share the story of Alpine’s heritage.
The proposed district would stretch from Lockhart south to the base of A Mountain, and from the creek east to 1st Street. While the designation won’t impose restrictions on property owners, it may open doors to grants and tax incentives for preserving historic structures.
Residents can contribute by submitting old photographs, stories, or details about buildings within the proposed district. Submissions can be emailed to: alpine@postoakpreservation.com.
Community participation is vital to documenting Alpine’s past and shaping its historical legacy for future generations.
