A rare piece of Alpine High School history has resurfaced. In 2020, AHS Yearbook Advisor Vaughn Grisham discovered and purchased a 1938 edition of El Ocotillo, believed to be the school’s first yearbook. The copy was found in the attic of Del Rio’s Drury Wood, who served as Superintendent of Alpine Schools during that era.
Due to the book’s fragile condition, it was recently sent out for scanning as a trial effort toward digitizing all past editions. The scanned 1938 yearbook is now available to view online at: https://bookcase.yearbookscanning.com/books/wjin/#p=1
