For the first time nationwide, Department of Defense personnel and equipment are actively patrolling the U.S.–Mexico border in the Big Bend Sector, according to U.S. Border Patrol.

The agency described the development as an “unprecedented partnership,” noting that the support from the Department of Defense strengthens ongoing efforts to secure the border.
Big Bend Sector encompasses a vast and remote region of West Texas, including Presidio, Brewster, Jeff Davis, Pecos, and Terrell counties. The integration of military personnel and resources into daily patrol operations is intended to enhance surveillance and enforcement capabilities in the area.
The collaboration reflects broader federal efforts to address border security through interagency cooperation, particularly in sectors with challenging terrain and limited infrastructure.
