Alpine Elementary Students Share Hydroponic Garden Success With School Board

Fourth-grade students from Alpine Elementary School presented their hydroponic gardening project to the Alpine ISD Board of Trustees last week, highlighting their hands-on science learning and future goals for produce production.

Students James, Misela, Bekah, and Graysen gave the presentation as part of their 4th grade science class with teacher Gabby Gordon. The students explained how they grew lettuce in the school’s FlexFarm hydroponic garden, discussed the growing process, and described how hydroponic systems work.

As a token of appreciation and a tangible result of their learning, each board member received a bag of lettuce grown by the students.

The project reflects Alpine Elementary’s commitment to experiential learning and STEM education, with plans to expand the program to include more types of produce in the future.
