Van Horn Economic Development Corporation to Oversee Culberson County Airport Development

The Van Horn Economic Development Corporation (VHEDC) has secured a strategic lease agreement with Culberson County to oversee the development of the Culberson County Airport property—a move set to boost economic growth, job creation, and infrastructure expansion in the region.

Through this partnership, VHEDC aims to enhance aviation operations, attract new businesses, and modernize infrastructure, generating new revenue streams for Culberson County, the City of Van Horn, and VHEDC. The project is expected to improve transportation access and create job opportunities, reinforcing Van Horn’s growing role in industry, commerce, and regional connectivity.

“This is more than just a lease—it’s an opportunity to shape the future of Van Horn and Culberson County in ways we may have never imagined,” said Cody Shafer, VHEDC President. “By working with multiple organizations and stakeholders, we are ensuring a seamless transition and a long-term strategy that will benefit our entire community.”

This initiative marks the beginning of a new era of development for Van Horn, Culberson County, and the broader West Texas region.
