The Alpine City Council is working with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to explore solutions to protect the Highway 90 railroad bridge from oversized vehicle collisions.
During the January 21 meeting, Ward 5 Councilor Rick Stephens reported on a proposed laser sensor system that would detect overheight vehicles and activate warning lights to alert drivers before they reach the bridge.
Stephens is set to meet with TxDOT in two weeks to continue discussions on the project.
