Alpine High School’s University Interscholastic League (UIL) academic teams secured top honors at the McCamey Invitational Meet on Jan. 24, 2025, with first-place finishes in both the Current Events and Social Studies competitions.
The Current Events team, made up of siblings Evan and Judith Frioux alongside teammate Miguel Batres, placed first in their category. In the Social Studies competition, Evan Frioux, Dylan Wang, Izabel Ortiz, and Raul Renteria took home the team championship.
Seven Alpine Middle School musicians performed in the Texas Region 6 All-Region Bands on Jan. 24, 2025, earning chairs through competition against more than 700 students from 19 schools across West Texas.
The students showcased their talents at the Crane High School Auditorium, with placements in both the Honor and Symphonic Bands. The musicians honored included:
- Eva Escuder (7th grade, flute) – Honor Band
- Jayceline Vargas (7th grade, baritone) – Symphonic Band
- Elisia Markin (8th grade, flute) – Honor Band
- Edison Wu (7th grade, tuba) – Symphonic Band
- Brody Warren (7th grade, baritone) – Symphonic Band
- David De La O (7th grade, clarinet) – Symphonic Band
- Maximus Cramer (8th grade, baritone) – Honor Band
The students’ achievements reflect their dedication and skill as they represented Alpine Middle School among top young musicians in the region.
The UIL teams continue to prepare for upcoming competitions, representing Alpine High School in academic contests across the region.
