The City of Marfa has joined Commissioner Beebe and Judge Portillo in urging residents to conserve electricity during nighttime hours over the coming days. The recommendation includes using gas heaters or setting HVAC thermostats to 68 degrees or lower to help ease strain on the power grid.
“Stay warm, but please conserve,” the city advised, emphasizing the importance of community effort during the cold weather.
Additionally, Marfa ISD has announced a two-hour delayed start for Thursday, January 23, and Friday, January 24, 2025, due to the potential for power outages. All classes will begin at 10:00 a.m., with bus routes starting at 9:30 a.m..
Residents are encouraged to monitor power usage and remain cautious to help maintain stability in the local power supply during this period of increased demand.
