Acclaimed international concert artists Duo Fortis, known for their dynamic and powerful guitar performances, will bring their talent to the Big Bend region with concerts in Marfa and Alpine this February. The events are part of Guitar in the Big Bend and the Sul Ross State University Music Program.
The Marfa concert is scheduled for Friday, February 7, at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, while the Alpine concert will take place on Saturday, February 8, at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the Big Bend. Both performances are free and open to the public.
In addition to the concerts, a masterclass will be held on Saturday, February 8, from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a Texas Luthier display and presentation from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Fine Arts Building on the Sul Ross State University campus.
Duo Fortis, formed in 2021, features Grammy-nominated guitarists Isaac Bustos and Alejandro Montiel, both of whom are Professors of Guitar at the University of Texas at San Antonio. The duo, also founding members of the acclaimed Texas Guitar Quartet, delivers a repertoire of classic and new works for guitar duo, captivating audiences with their energy and sound. Their performances have taken them across the U.S., Mexico, and Latin America, including recent appearances in Colombia, Argentina, and Chile.
