Fans of poetry and West Texas lore will have the opportunity to meet award-winning author Lucy Griffith today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Front Street Books. Griffith, a retired psychologist who resides along the Guadalupe River near Comfort, Texas, is celebrated for her evocative poetry collections that capture the spirit of nature and the people of the region.
Griffith’s debut collection, We Make a Tiny Herd, explores the imagined life of the Burro Lady of West Texas, earning her both the prestigious Wrangler and Willa Prizes. Her newest collection, Wingbeat Atlas, features her poems alongside images by wildlife photographer Ken Butler, celebrating the beauty and diversity of birdlife, or as Griffith calls them, “our citizens of the sky.”
This meet-and-greet offers an intimate setting to connect with Griffith, learn about her creative process, and gain insights into the inspirations behind her acclaimed works. Copies of her collections will be available for purchase and signing.
Front Street Books is located in the heart of Alpine, making it the perfect venue to showcase Griffith’s connection to the landscapes and stories of West Texas. Don’t miss the chance to engage with this award-winning poet and her vivid portrayals of life in the region.
