Renowned drummer, percussionist, and now author, John Bush is bringing a unique blend of music and literature to the Granada Theatre in Alpine, Texas. On Thursday, January 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Bush will take the stage for an evening of Book Reading & Solo Performance, offering a creative showcase that fuses his musical talents with his storytelling craft.
A Multi-Talented Artist on Tour
John Bush is widely recognized as a founding member of the platinum-selling band Edie Brickell and New Bohemians. With a career that has taken him across the globe, Bush has performed with numerous bands in his adopted hometown of Austin, Texas, where he also runs Cicada Moon Studios, producing and recording music for other artists.
Bush’s musical projects include regular performances at The Saxon Pub with The Drakes and The Patrice Pike Band, as well as collaborations with bands such as Cactus Lee, The Season Ammons Band, and Tote.
Queen Daffodil’s Demise: A New Chapter
Expanding his artistic repertoire, Bush recently published his debut novel, Queen Daffodil’s Demise. The novel, described as a cosmic dystopian fairytale, explores the power of the mind and the timeless struggle between good and evil. This event offers an exclusive opportunity to hear excerpts from his work before its release.
A Unique Solo Performance
Bush’s tour is no ordinary book reading. His performances blend spoken word and storytelling with live musical elements, including ambient percussion loops created on the spot. These rhythmic backdrops provide a dynamic canvas for his literary readings, offering audiences a multi-sensory experience.
