Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute Welcomes New Board Members

According to Big Bend Radio, the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute (CDRI) has appointed three new board members, effective January 1. The new directors—Jesse Moore Kelsch, Pete Szilagi, and Pam Hall Duerr—will succeed Anne Adams, who served for nine years, as well as Debbie Murphy and Chris Ritzi, who each completed six years of service.

Jesse Moore Kelsch, an Assistant Professor of Geology at Sul Ross State University, specializes in Structural Geology, focusing on the deformation of Earth’s outer layer caused by plate-tectonic stresses.

Pete Szilagi brings experience as a writer, editor, and publisher. He is also known for his work as a producer, interviewer, and music host at Marfa Public Radio, where he served as interim general manager.

Pam Hall Duerr is a board-certified physician specializing in Family Practice. She has an extensive background in conservation, having served on the Board of Directors for the Big Bend Conservancy for nine years.

These new appointments bring a diverse range of expertise to CDRI as it continues its mission of research and conservation in the Chihuahuan Desert.
