The historic West of the Pecos Rodeo is set to return this summer, featuring a full week of exciting events and performances from Saturday, June 21, to Saturday, June 28, 2025. Known as the “World’s First Rodeo,” this celebrated tradition will once again showcase top rodeo talent, local competitions, and family-friendly activities.
Below is the full schedule of events for this year’s rodeo.
Saturday, June 21, 2025
- West of the Pecos Team Roping Classic (Local Open Roping)
- Books open at 9:00 AM
- Format: #13 roping with a #10 incentive, 4 steers for $300, enter up to 3 times
- Cash-only event
Tuesday, June 24, 2025
- Slack – Barrel Racing Only
- Begins at 7:00 PM
Wednesday, June 25, 2025
- Morning Events
- Slack: 8:00 AM
- Events include Team Roping, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Steer Roping, and Breakaway Roping
- Old Timer’s Reunion: 9:00 AM at the West of the Pecos Museum
- Rodeo Parade: 10:00 AM
- Reeves County Sheriff’s Posse BBQ: Noon
- Slack: 8:00 AM
- Evening Performance
- 1st Performance of the Rodeo: 8:00 PM
- Family Night tickets: Adults $10, Kids (12 and under) $2
- Boot Scramble: Held during the performance for kids in three age groups (5–6, 7–8, and 9–10); winners will receive bicycles
- 1st Performance of the Rodeo: 8:00 PM

- Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night: Attendees are encouraged to wear pink to support the Pecos Area Cancer Foundation, with a portion of gate proceeds donated to the organization

- West of the Pecos Play Day Series Winners: Introduced during the performance
- Boot Scramble: Second run during the performance

- 4th Performance and Finals of the Rodeo: 8:00 PM

- Top 12 team ropers from the West of the Pecos Team Roping Classic will compete during the performance
