Young adventurers and their families are invited to “Hear and Now,” a Junior Ranger Nature Quest taking place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Balmorhea State Park. This hands-on sensory adventure is designed for kids to explore the outdoors using all five senses in a fun and engaging way.
Participants will enjoy a short, easy hike that incorporates sights, sounds, smells, touch, and even taste to discover the wonders of nature. From the rustle of leaves to the scent of creosote, children will connect with their surroundings in a unique and interactive way.
The event is tailored for ages 4–12, though adventurers of all ages are welcome. Parents and guardians are encouraged to notify the ranger of any allergies or health considerations upon arrival to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone.
The hike is less than half a mile, wheelchair accessible, and suitable for all fitness levels. Admission is free with park entry. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and bring their curiosity.
