Marathon Gears Up for a Week of Wellness and Winter Magic

As Marathon, Texas, welcomes cooler temperatures and the potential for its first snowfall since last winter, the community is buzzing with a week full of activities designed to promote wellness and community spirit.

Starting Monday, January 6, the Marathon Health Center will kick off the week with a free health screening clinic from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, ensuring residents start the new year focused on their health. The week continues with a variety of activities each day, centered around wellness and community engagement.

On Tuesday, January 7, Gage Wellness at Gage Hotel invites locals to unwind with a beginner’s flow aerial yoga session at 2:00 pm, for a fee of $15. Reservations can be made by calling 432-244-7273.

The wellness theme extends into Wednesday, with the Marathon Health Center hosting an evening yoga session from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This session aims to help participants relax and rejuvenate midway through the week.

Thursday’s schedule features a Hatha Yoga session with Bailey from noon to 1:00 pm, also at the Marathon Health Center, for $15. Participants need to reserve their spots via email at baileydoesyogatx@gmail.com. Later that evening, a caregiver support group meets from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, providing essential support and resources for those caring for loved ones.

The highlight of Thursday is the Knowledge Night at the Marathon Public Library’s Community Center starting at 6:00 pm. Tim Gibbs, a renowned archaeologist from Big Bend Ranch, will present recent archaeological findings, offering insights into the rich heritage of the region.

Friday morning, January 10, continues with circuit training at the Marathon Health Center from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, offering a vigorous start to the day.

The week wraps up on Sunday, January 12, with a ‘Sunday Funday Potluck Brunch’ hosted by Eve’s Garden and the community, from noon to 3:00 pm. This event combines champagne and communal dining, promising a delightful end to an active week.

With these events, Marathon not only promotes health and wellness but also strengthens community bonds. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to participate and enjoy the unique blend of activities that highlight the spirit of Marathon.
