The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks basketball team kicked off 2025 with a strong performance at home, securing a decisive 71-45 victory over the McCamey Badgers. The game, held at Alpine High School, was not just a display of competitive spirit but also a celebration of #3 Dae Hardwick’s remarkable achievement of scoring 1,000 career points.
Dae Hardwick, a standout student-athlete, was honored before the game, making the victory even more special as it unfolded in front of a home crowd filled with family, friends, and dedicated supporters. Hardwick, who has the potential to reach 2,000 points, showed why he is a key player for the Bucks, contributing significantly to the game’s outcome.
The Fightin’ Bucks started strong, taking an early 5-0 lead, though McCamey quickly caught up, ending the first quarter ahead by one point at 13-12. The momentum shifted in the second quarter as Alpine tightened their defense, allowing only six points against them. Offensively, they were efficient, shooting 50% from 2-point range and successfully making four out of five free throws, which helped them gain a comfortable lead of 31-19 by halftime.
Alpine maintained their shooting prowess through the second half, with #5 Alec Ramos making three crucial three-pointers contributing to the team’s extended lead. Ramos’s recent performances have shown remarkable improvement, highlighting his growing confidence and scoring ability.
The game concluded with a substantial win for the Fightin’ Bucks, with several players stepping up and contributing to the win. Ferris Daley led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Alec Ramos with 15 points. Zane Wash added 12 points alongside his defensive efforts, which included two blocks. Dae Hardwick rounded out the top performances with a triple-double, scoring 7 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and distributing 10 assists.
