Florcita Zubia is preparing for a new chapter in her career as she steps into the role of Presidio County Treasurer starting January 1. Zubia, who currently holds the positions of County Clerk, District Clerk, and Elections Administrator, was chosen for the treasurer’s role following the retirement of Frances Garcia.
Zubia’s appointment came after some debate among county officials regarding whether to promote an internal candidate or bring in someone with a banking background. Ultimately, the majority of the commissioners supported Zubia’s candidacy, citing her extensive experience within the county’s administrative framework and her enthusiasm for the new role.
