Join the First Guided Hike of 2025 at Sul Ross State University’s Hancock Hill

Sul Ross State University invites the community to kick off the new year with an invigorating guided hike at Hancock Hill on Saturday, January 11, at 9:00 AM. This free event is open to all who are interested in exploring the local landscape and learning more about the natural environment under the guidance of experienced hikers Bill Adams, Alex Hettena, and Maureen Frank.

The 1.8-mile trail is described as moderately strenuous, offering both a challenge and a rewarding experience with spectacular views of the surrounding area. This hike follows a successful December event led by Matt and Jesse, which focused on bear awareness in the Big Bend region, drawing attention and praise for its informative approach.

Participants are required to register in advance to secure their spot for this popular event. For more information and to sign up, please visit www.sulross.edu/guided-hikes. Don’t miss this opportunity to start 2025 with adventure and education, right in the heart of Texas’ beautiful Big Bend area.
