This weekend, the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce is set to present the annual Frontier Christmas, a beloved Jeff Davis County tradition that brings holiday festivities to the heart of Fort Davis.
The celebration kicks off on Friday with the Arts & Crafts Fair at St. Joseph Parish Hall, setting the festive tone for the weekend. Following the fair, the community is invited to a family barn dance at 7 pm at the Kelly Pavilion, featuring Doug Moreland, who is back after his performances at Alpine’s annual ArtWalk. The evening will include food and drinks, dance lessons, and a campfire, creating a perfect setting for family fun. Admission is free for children, with teens entering for $5 and adults for $10 at the door.
On Saturday, the Arts & Crafts Fair will continue, leading up to the Parade of Lights at 6 pm. Decorated vehicles will light up the main street of Fort Davis, adding a sparkle to the holiday atmosphere. The festivities will follow with the annual tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 pm at Memorial Square, where the community will gather to celebrate the season’s spirit.
Adding to the excitement, Santa Claus will make an appearance, giving children and those young at heart a chance to share their Christmas wishes with the bearded gentleman.
The evening will conclude with a Jingle Mingle at 7 pm at the Chamber office in Memorial Square, where community members can enjoy an open meeting to engage and celebrate together.
