For the fourth consecutive year, Collette Barragan is spearheading the Christmas in Boquillas initiative, a heartfelt project dedicated to delivering holiday cheer and gifts to the children of Boquillas, Mexico. This endeavor relies heavily on the generous support of friends, local community members, and the broader Facebook community.
Collette organizes the collection, sorting, wrapping, and tagging of gifts each holiday season, ensuring each child in the village receives something special. “Honestly, nothing makes me happier than traveling to Boquillas to bring smiles to the children there. It truly is the best gift ever,” Collette shared.
Those interested in contributing can order gifts directly from the provided Amazon link or drop off gifts locally at Collette’s home or at the high school, where students play a significant role in preparing the gifts for delivery. For those who prefer not to shop, monetary donations are also welcomed to support the logistical aspects of the initiative.
This year’s journey to Boquillas is scheduled for December 22, passing through Big Bend National Park. For those unable to contribute gifts or funds, thoughts and prayers for the success of this significant endeavor are deeply appreciated.
