Visit Big Bend, also known as the Brewster County Tourism Council, has just wrapped up another successful year at the State Fair of Texas, held annually in Dallas at the historic Fair Park. The event, which began on the last Friday in September, attracts millions of visitors each year, with 2024’s attendance reaching a staggering 2.4 million people.
Throughout the 24-day fair, Visit Big Bend’s booth became a hub for thousands of potential visitors interested in exploring the Big Bend Region of Texas. The team, led by Executive Director Robert Alvarez, along with Executive Assistant Adela Holguin and Public Relations Officer Aaron Garza, was bolstered by a group of 14 contractors dedicated to promoting the area’s unique attractions.
This year’s booth featured engaging activities like a “Plinko” style game offering attendees the chance to win prizes adorned with iconic imagery from the region and the opportunity to sign up for an email newsletter. Every visitor also received a Big Bend bandana, enhancing the interactive experience and spreading awareness of the region’s scenic beauty.
The efforts of the Visit Big Bend team paid off, attracting over 12,000 people to their booth, eager to learn more about vacation opportunities in Big Bend. According to Alvarez, the booth not only provided information but also captured heartwarming stories from visitors who have formed deep connections with the region. Many shared tales of annual visits, weddings, and family reunions held amidst the natural splendor of Big Bend.
