On Wednesday, Midland Teen Court organized a critical session to educate teens about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. The event featured key speakers from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas A&M AgriLife, and DPS Sergeant Steven Blanco, who shared valuable insights and safety tips with the attendees.
During the session, DPS Sgt. Blanco emphasized the importance of keeping eyes on the road and avoiding distractions such as cell phones and other mobile devices while driving. He reminded everyone that texting while driving is illegal in Texas, and the use of mobile devices is strictly prohibited in school zones. Additionally, drivers under the age of 18 are completely barred from using cell phones or other mobile devices when operating a vehicle.
The initiative by the Midland Teen Court is part of ongoing efforts to promote safe driving habits among young drivers and to reduce the number of accidents caused by distracted and impaired driving.
