Recent data from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts reveals significant economic growth in El Paso County, particularly in the last few years. Analysis by the County Information Program of the Texas Association of Counties highlights the resilience and expansion of the local economy through increasing sales tax allocations.

Since 2020, El Paso County has shown a robust increase in sales tax revenues. That year, the county reported approximately $53.5 million in sales tax allocations, a 3.3% increase over the previous year. This upward trend continued into 2021, with a remarkable surge of 16.9% in nominal allocations, totaling over $62.5 million. This substantial growth reflects the county’s strong economic recovery and expansion.
Adjusting for inflation, the real terms also saw significant improvements. There was an 11.6% increase in real allocations in 2021, followed by a 3.4% growth in 2022. The most recent data for 2023 shows a continuing trend, with a 5.1% increase in nominal allocations to $73.4 million and a 0.9% rise in real terms to $42.7 million.
