Award-Winning Author Tracy Borgmeyer Inspires Alpine Elementary Students with Virtual Visit

Alpine Elementary School recently hosted a virtual visit from Tracy Borgmeyer, the award-winning author of the “Halley Harper, Science Girl Extraordinaire” series. The event, led by Ms. Hardaway, provided an enriching experience for second-grade students, fostering a deep appreciation for literature and science.

During the session, Borgmeyer, a scientist and author, shared her insights into the creative process behind her popular children’s book series. Students, who had previously read the first two books, engaged eagerly with Borgmeyer as she read chapters aloud and conducted an interactive science demonstration.

“The excitement was palpable as students discovered not just the joys of reading but the thrill of science and exploration through literature,” said Ms. Hardaway. Borgmeyer’s approach not only highlighted the adventures of her protagonist, Halley Harper, but also emphasized the importance of reading, writing, and forming true friendships.

Adding to the excitement, Borgmeyer announced the donation of the complete series box set of “Halley Harper: Science Girl Extraordinaire” to the school’s science room. This generous contribution is set to further enhance the learning resources available to students, encouraging continued exploration of science and literature.

Tracy Borgmeyer, a Texas A&M alumna with a background in Chemical Engineering, now resides in The Woodlands, Texas. Her visit has left a lasting impression on the students of Alpine Elementary, sparking an increased interest in science and reading among the young learners. The school community is eager to see how this experience will inspire their future educational endeavors.
