Pecos County Law Enforcement Successfully Completes Active Shooter Drill

On July 29, 2024, an active shooter drill was conducted at Apache Elementary School, with participation from multiple agencies including the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Stockton Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Border Patrol, Texas Rangers, Pecos County Emergency Management, TDEM BRAC, and the City of Fort Stockton.

The drill demonstrated the effectiveness of the law enforcement agencies’ trained protocols and Pecos County EMS’s capability to provide medical care. A post-drill briefing was held to evaluate the exercise’s success.

Special acknowledgments were given to Mr. Madrid for allowing use of the school, as well as Collette Barragan and her high school students for their involvement.

Sheriff Perkins expressed gratitude to all participants for their contribution to the successful drill.
