New Mural Celebrating Live Music and Dark Skies Unveiled During Viva Big Bend Music Festival

A new mural celebrating live music and the dark skies of the Big Bend region was unveiled last week during the Viva Big Bend music festival. This project highlights Alpine’s designation as a Texas Music Office Music Friendly Community and the Big Bend Dark Sky Reserve.

The mural, designed by Chris Ruggia and painted by Monty Welt, features a singing lobo carved from a dead tree by Doug Moreland. This vibrant addition celebrates Alpine’s musical heritage and natural beauty.
