In an effort to bolster community engagement and environmental awareness, the Chinati Foundation is partnering with Project Homeleaf to host a tree planting workshop on Saturday, February 17th. This event, open to participants of all ages, is set to take place on the grounds of the Chinati Foundation, located in the scenic Presidio and Big Bend region.
The workshop, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is designed to be a hands-on experience for attendees. Project Homeleaf will take this opportunity to share insights about their environmental initiatives, demonstrate proper tree planting techniques, and discuss the significant benefits that trees offer to communities. The event underscores the importance of tree conservation and aims to inspire participants to contribute to greener, more sustainable environments.
Participation in the workshop is free, with lunch provided for all attendees. However, those interested in joining are reminded that advance registration is required to secure a spot. To register, potential participants are asked to email education@chinati.org.
The Chinati Foundation is deeply committed to educational and public programming that enriches the community’s understanding and appreciation of art and the environment. This commitment is made possible through the generous support of various foundations, including the Prentice Farrar & Alline Ford Brown Foundation, the Cowles Charitable Trust, the Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation, the Warren Skaaren Charitable Trust, #startsmall, the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the Union Pacific Foundation. The foundation also extends its gratitude to its members and the people of Marfa and Far West Texas for their ongoing support and in-kind contributions.
This tree planting workshop represents a unique opportunity for community members to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts and learn about the positive impact of their actions. The Chinati Foundation and Project Homeleaf invite individuals and families to come together for this meaningful event, fostering a deeper connection with nature and each other.
