Cyclone Ballparks, together with The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), is set to enhance the sports landscape of Pecos with its Phase II expansion. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for February 20, 2024, marking the commencement of a project that promises to make Pecos a top destination for diamond sports tournaments across the nation.
Hosted by the Town of Pecos City at the entrance of Cyclone Ballparks, the event will feature remarks from Cyclone staff, Mayor Winkles, city officials, and representatives from SFC and project developer Mammoth. The ceremony, open to the public, offers swag gifts to attendees, with a special session dedicated to media and photo opportunities.
This expansion includes the addition of six new playing fields, increasing the total to 11 baseball diamonds. These fields are designed with professional-style dugouts and ample seating for fans, aiming to provide an exceptional experience for both players and spectators. Jessica Kuhl, SFC Vice President of Venue Management, expressed excitement about the project, highlighting its potential to boost the local economy and attract more visitors to Pecos.
Adding to the allure of the complex, two modern food and beverage buildings will be constructed to support guests during events. One building will be strategically located near the new fields, and another at the complex’s center, which will also house a rentable 1,100-square-foot event space for year-round use.
The expansion plans also address the need for more parking, with over 700 paved spaces anticipated upon completion. City Manager Charles Lino expects the project to be ready by fall 2024, in line with Pecos’s reputation as the “Baseball Town of West Texas.”
Matt Hohn, Mammoth Vice President for Construction Operations, commended Pecos’s commitment to growth and community, emphasizing the city’s dedication to enhancing its premium sports facilities.
In the event of inclement weather, a rain date is scheduled for February 21. This groundbreaking event signifies a significant step forward for the Town of Pecos City and Cyclone Ballparks, promising a bright future for the community and sports enthusiasts alike.
