Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce Appoints Pam Knapen as New Executive Director

The Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Pam Knapen as its new Executive Director. With a background in event planning and management, Knapen brings a wealth of experience to her role and is poised to elevate the Chamber’s presence in the region.

Knapen previously served as the Part-time Deputy Director for the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center before stepping into her new position. Her one year and eight months as Deputy Director allowed her to gain valuable insights into the organization’s operations and develop strong relationships within the local community.

In her new capacity as Executive Director, Pam Knapen will be responsible for various aspects of Chamber operations, with a focus on public relations, management, supervision, office administration, and overseeing the Visitor Center.

Public Relations

As the face of the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce, Pam Knapen will represent the Chamber to its members, tourists, public agencies, local organizations, and the general public. She will maintain the Chamber’s webpages and social media presence, actively promote local events and businesses, and extend invitations to new businesses to join the Chamber. Knapen will also play a pivotal role in organizing ribbon-cutting ceremonies and establishing partnerships with other organizations in the tri-county area.

Management

Working under the guidance of the Chamber President, Pam Knapen will ensure the smooth and effective operation of Chamber business. This includes preparing agendas for Board meetings, sending meeting notices, distributing minutes, providing monthly Director’s Reports, and developing goals and objectives for recommendation to the Board. She will also assist in forming and overseeing committees and coordinate Chamber annual meetings, general meetings, and Board dinners. Her role will also involve maintaining open communication with the Board, contributing to Chamber governance, and addressing concerns in a timely manner.

Supervision

In her capacity as Executive Director, Knapen will supervise Chamber support staff at the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce Office. She will make hiring and salary recommendations to the Board and oversee various day-to-day operations, including business administration functions, event operations, and more. Knapen’s leadership will involve coaching, mentoring, and providing guidance to the Chamber’s staff.

Office Administration

Pam Knapen will be responsible for executing operational and strategic business plans for the Chamber, ensuring that necessary resources are in place to achieve desired goals. She will oversee day-to-day business operations, including managing Chamber programs, marketing efforts, record-keeping of meetings, events, memberships, billing, and contracts. Additionally, Knapen will maintain member mailing lists, apply for HOT (Hotel Occupancy Tax) funds, and provide quarterly reports to the Jeff Davis County Commissioners Court. She will also oversee merchandising and procurement activities.

Visitor Center

Knapen will maintain regular Visitor Center hours and ensure that the center remains presentable and welcoming. She will also oversee the rental and maintenance of the Kelly Pavilion and event equipment.

Pam Knapen’s diverse background, including previous roles in event planning and management, positions her well to drive the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce’s mission forward. Her appointment signifies the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening community partnerships, promoting local businesses, and enhancing the overall experience for residents and tourists alike.
