Indian Lodge at Davis Mountains State Park Gearing Up for 2024 Reopening

A recent update from Davis Mountains State Park’s official Facebook page has shed light on the ongoing renovations at the historic Indian Lodge. The renowned establishment, which sits within the state park, is undergoing extensive upgrades with an emphasis on preserving its intrinsic historic charm. While a definite reopening date has not been announced, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department is currently staffing up, advertising several job positions online and with banners in Fort Davis, Marfa, and Alpine.

  • Upgraded Water Infrastructure: New water lines are being set up for both the hotel and its in-house dining facility, the Black Bear Restaurant.

  • Outdoor Amenities: The renovation includes a redesigned pool patio aimed at enhancing accessibility.
  • Landscaping Improvements: Efforts are being made to bolster the landscaping and to streamline maneuverability between the lodge’s 200 & 300 wings.

The renovation project is publicly funded, with an estimated budget of $3,524,000. Post-renovation, the 39-room hotel, located at Texas Hwy 118 N, Park Road 3, Fort Davis, TX 79734, promises to offer a blend of rustic charm and modern conveniences. Amenities include a swimming pool and the Black Bear Restaurant, known for its breakfast and lunch menus.
