Sul Ross State University Welcomes Families for Annual Day of Celebration

Family Day, a longstanding tradition at Sul Ross State University, is set for today, Saturday, Oct. 21 in Alpine, inviting families of students to partake in a diverse range of activities and experiences that showcase the rich offerings of the institution.

Families are not only encouraged to visit to spend time with their enrolled loved ones but also to explore the picturesque campus and the scenic locale. As highlighted by Dean of Students Suzanne Harris, Ph.D., “We invite parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins – everyone – to come out to Alpine and see their favorite students and explore campus and our beautiful area.”

The day’s agenda is as varied as it is inviting:

  • Check-In: Families are welcomed to register at the Morgan University Center between 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Football Showdown: Starting at 11 a.m., tailgating for the Lobos vs. Hardin-Simmons game will take place, with the game itself kicking off at noon.
  • Theatrical Presentation: The SRSU Theatre Department has scheduled a performance of “Oleanna” at 7 p.m. in the Studio Theatre located in the Francois Fine Arts Building. Attendees at check-in will receive a code entitling them to four complimentary tickets.
  • Museum Outing: For those interested in the region’s history, the Museum of the Big Bend opens its doors for free visits from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
