Art Blocks Presents “Collēctīvus: Computation, Consciousness, and Collective Memory” Exhibition in Marfa

Artists and Community Merge to Shape a Unique Artistic Time Capsule

The quaint town of Marfa, Texas, renowned for its fusion of art and culture, has unveiled a captivating new exhibition that delves into the power of collective curation. The exhibit, titled “Collēctīvus: Computation, Consciousness, and Collective Memory,” opened its doors at the Art Blocks Gallery, captivating art enthusiasts and showcasing the influence of community preferences on the world of digital art.

“Collēctīvus” derives its name from the Latin word for “collective,” embodying the essence of togetherness and shared experiences. The exhibition features seven projects carefully selected from a plethora of artworks released on the Art Blocks platform over the past year. These projects utilize computation as a creative medium, exploring concepts like the collective unconscious, the interplay of memory, and the convergence of natural and digital forms.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this exhibition is the integral role played by the Art Blocks community. Through a unique voting system, community members have the power to decide which tokens from each project will be displayed at the Art Blocks Gallery during Marfa Weekend 2023. This democratic approach not only showcases the artists’ visions but also reflects the collective preferences, tastes, and values of the community, creating a living embodiment of collective memory.

The process involves community members voting for their favorite tokens from each project within the “Collēctīvus: Computation, Consciousness, and Collective Memory Deca” gallery. The most-liked tokens from each project are then chosen to become part of the exhibition, effectively capturing the collective ideals of Art Blocks’ vibrant ecosystem of creators and collectors. This approach acts as a time capsule, preserving the tastes and preferences of this specific moment in time for posterity.
