Beloved Horse “Corona” Remains in Limbo in Presidio as Owner Seeks Answers

The heart-wrenching saga of “Corona,” the beloved horse from Boquillas, Mexico, has taken an unexpected turn as she remains in limbo at a facility in Presidio, TX. The heartbreakingly prolonged separation between Corona and her owner, Edgar Ureste, has left the community anxiously awaiting answers about her situation and return.

Corona’s journey began when she inadvertently crossed the U.S.-Mexico border into Big Bend National Park, capturing the attention of park rangers. Edgar Ureste, her devoted owner, shared his distress on social media, conveying the bond he shared with Corona and the pain of their separation.

After being taken into custody, Corona was placed under the supervision of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Presidio. There, she is undergoing a quarantine process and being tested for diseases, as per standard procedures. However, as the days turned into weeks and now months, the delay in receiving test results and the absence of a clear timeline for her release have only deepened the emotional strain on Ureste and the community.

Ureste’s efforts to gather information from the USDA’s Washington DC Headquarters and the Laredo office have yielded little clarity. Héctor Morales, the supervisor at the Presidio facility, is responsible for providing information about Corona’s situation. However, Morales has been unresponsive to Ureste’s attempts to reach out, which has compounded the uncertainty surrounding Corona’s future.

In response to the lack of information, Ureste is urging concerned individuals to contact Héctor Morales directly at 432-295-0246 and leave voicemails. The hope is that a collective effort will compel Morales to provide updates on Corona’s well-being and facilitate her release.

The prolonged separation has not only taken an emotional toll on the Ureste family but also brought financial challenges. The uncertainty surrounding Corona’s future and potential fees associated with her release have prompted Ureste to seek public support. A specific PayPal donation link (PayPal.me/boquillas26) has been shared to assist with expenses related to Corona’s eventual return.

As September progresses, the community’s hope remains steadfast. The deep connections between communities on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border are highlighted by the outpouring of support for Corona’s cause. The relentless determination to reunite Corona with her rightful home underscores the unwavering compassion of a united community.

In a time marked by uncertainty, the Ureste family and their supporters continue to hold onto the belief that, together, they can overcome the challenges and ensure that Corona’s story ends with a triumphant return home.
