Terlingua Fire & EMS, in collaboration with another local fire department, recently made a significant contribution to the firefighting capabilities of their counterparts in Mexico. Adhering to the National Fire Protection Association’s standard 1851, equipment in the U.S. that surpasses ten years from its manufacture date must be retired. However, this gear remains in exceptional condition, and it’s now finding a new home and purpose with Bomberos Voluntarios De Ojinaga in Mexico.
This noteworthy donation included 35 pairs of structural firefighting boots, 16 bunker jackets, 10 bunker pants, 20 wildland fire suits, and 40 helmets catering to both structural and wildland firefighting.
J. Thomason, FF/EMT and Public Information Officer, expressed the sentiment shared by many in the department: “Stay safe.” This donation not only underscores the spirit of international camaraderie among firefighters but also reinforces the commitment of Terlingua Fire & EMS to ensure safety and support beyond borders.
