Calling All Artists: Embrace Creativity Al Fresco with the Big Bend Plein Air Paint Out

Artists of all types are being called to pick up their tools and head outdoors for the Plein Air Paint Out, a recurring event designed to inspire creativity and connection with the stunning natural environment of the Big Bend region.

The next gathering will take place on August 19, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Paisano Pass Pull Off, inviting painters, urban sketchers, photographers, and more to participate. The event is part of a series held each third Saturday of the month at various locations throughout the area, providing an exciting mix of settings for artistic exploration.

A noteworthy date on the calendar is the upcoming Labor Day weekend, from August 31 to September 4, which will be celebrated as a special Plein Air Weekend. Over these four days, participants will have an opportunity to engage in portraiture as well.

Details and directions for each event can be found on the Big Bend Arts Council website at https://www.bigbendartscouncil.org/. For additional information, interested artists can reach out to Richard Curtin at rdcurtin@aol.com or Liz Culp at lizbarlettculpfineart@gmail.com.

Following the August event, further Paint Out dates include October 21 at The Paisano Hotel in Marfa from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and November 25 at Richard’s house, also from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
