The Ritchey, a cherished live music-focused bar and restaurant in Alpine, TX, has reopened its doors to the public after a temporary closure necessitated by the pandemic. The much-anticipated reopening comes after the building was purchased by David Keller and Anne Callaway, the proprietor of Front Street Bookstore, who are collaborating to breathe new life into the beloved establishment with the help of local artisans.

During its closure, The Ritchey underwent a refreshing transformation while retaining the soul and ambiance that had endeared it to the Alpine community over the years. Residents and visitors alike can expect a unique experience that combines the essence of the original venue with exciting new touches.
Operating The Ritchey will be a team of seasoned Trans-Pecos food and beverage experts, including Mateo and Ariana from Alpine’s renowned Cedar Coffee, along with Sam Savinoha from Marathon’s beloved French Co Grocer. This dream team of local talent ensures that the venue’s food and beverage offerings will be in capable hands, promising an elevated and diverse menu for patrons to enjoy.
To commemorate its grand reopening, The Ritchey hosted a special community event today in collaboration with Big Bend Telephone. The Viva Big Bend kickoff party was a smashing success, drawing in locals eager to experience the revived ambiance and celebrate the return of live music to their favorite spot in town.
