The City of Alpine, Texas, has officially launched its 2023 #AlpineTXPhoto Contest, extending an invitation to photographers worldwide to depict the unique spirit and stunning surroundings of the city. This annual event, now in its 13th year, provides an opportunity for participants to highlight the essence of Alpine through their creative lens.
The contest, free and open to the public, will accept entries until September 30, 2023. Photographers are encouraged to explore and visually document the diverse facets of Alpine, from the city’s charming downtown area, bustling local businesses, and radiant murals, to its tranquil parks and neighborhoods, and the awe-inspiring landscapes of the neighboring regions.
The contest carries a grand prize of $500, named the H.L. Kokernot, Jr. Memorial Award, in honor of the founder of Kokernot Field, the celebrated home of the Alpine Cowboys baseball team. This award will be granted to the participant whose work best encapsulates the exceptional creativity and vision that the contest celebrates.
Five other cash prizes will also be awarded. The Henry Charles Trost Memorial Award ($100), named after the principal designer of the historic Holland Hotel, and three awards of $50 each – the Twin Sisters Award, Hancock Hill Award, and “A” Mountain Award – will be given to the photographers whose works stand out for their depiction of Alpine and its surroundings.
The judging panel for the 2023 #AlpineTXPhoto Contest will be announced shortly. Entrants can refer to the complete Photo Contest Rules for further details, and any inquiries can be addressed to photos@visitalpinetx.com.
With both residents and visitors welcome to participate, the contest continues to promote Alpine’s rich narrative, building a bridge between the city and the world through a captivating photographic journey. The City of Alpine is excited to view this year’s submissions, as they celebrate the vibrant visual narrative that each photographer brings to life.
