The Chinati Foundation is excited to announce their Free Family Days for tri-county residents, inviting families to explore the exceptional works in Chinati’s collection and participate in hands-on creative activities.
On Saturday, July 22, 2023, families are invited to view and engage with the striking works of Donald Judd, a renowned artist famous for his concrete sculptures. But that’s not all, attendees will also have the unique opportunity to create their own concrete furniture, providing a tactile and insightful exploration into the medium that Judd used so prolifically.
Following this, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, attendees will have the chance to experience the mesmerizing light installations of Dan Flavin. Recognized for his iconic work in minimalism and the use of fluorescent light, this will be a spectacular display of art. Further enhancing this immersive experience, participants will be invited to create their own marbled paper, an activity that ties to the vibrant interplay of colors in Flavin’s works.
These events are open to all ages and families, providing a wonderful opportunity to immerse in art, express creativity, and enjoy a memorable day at the Chinati Foundation. However, please note that enrollment is limited, so interested attendees are encouraged to sign up promptly to secure their place.
Both events will be held from 9:00am to 12:00pm on their respective dates, offering a delightful morning of artistic exploration and creation. To sign up, please email: education@chinati.org with ‘FAMILY DAY’ in the subject line, or call 432 729 4362 ext 244.
The Chinati Foundation’s Free Family Days are not only about fostering a love for art but also aim to provide a platform for families to engage, create, and learn together.
