Boquillas Port of Entry Announces Summer Hours for 2023

Starting on May 1st, the Boquillas Port of Entry, located within Big Bend National Park, will switch to its summer schedule. This port provides access to the town of Boquillas, Coahuila, Mexico, and the Mexican Protected Areas of Maderas del Carmen and Ocampo. The port will be open from Friday through Monday, operating between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Central Time. Please note that the Mexican State of Coahuila does not adjust its clocks for Daylight Saving Time, and therefore, there will be a one-hour time difference compared to the U.S. Port of Entry.

During the summer schedule, pedestrians can cross the port on foot (during low water) or by rowboat ferry (for a fee) during business hours. However, vehicle crossings or commercial importation of products are not allowed. Visitors must have proper documentation to cross, including a valid passport for U.S. and Canadian citizens. Other accepted travel documents can be obtained by contacting U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Presidio, TX, at 432-229-3349.

The Boquillas Port of Entry will be open from April 26th to May 1st (Wednesday through Monday) during the transition from the summer to winter schedule. It will be closed from May 2nd to May 4th (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

The facility is jointly operated by the National Park Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and National Park Rangers are available to assist travelers with information about the area.
