Alpine Business Coalition brings local entrepreneurs together, announces January meeting

The Alpine Business Coalition is bringing business owners, entrepreneurs and community partners together through free monthly meetings designed to encourage networking, share resources and strengthen the local economy.

The organization, which welcomes businesses of all sizes without charging membership dues or meeting fees, has announced its next gathering for Jan. 7, 2027, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the BBT Community Room in Alpine, where the coalition has hosted previous gatherings.

The coalition welcomes a broad range of participants, including home-based businesses, online retailers, established companies, real estate agents, short-term and long-term rental operators, and individuals considering starting their own businesses.

Meetings typically last about an hour and provide opportunities for participants to exchange ideas, learn about available business resources and develop relationships with other entrepreneurs.

The organization also works with the Sul Ross Small Business Development Center, whose representatives attend meetings to provide updates and answer questions about starting, operating and expanding businesses.

At its November meeting, the coalition welcomed Joseph Torres, who discussed programs and services available through Workforce Solutions to help local businesses grow.

The organization also recognized Norma Martinez for her continued participation and updates about the Sul Ross Small Business Development Center.

Bread Garden Bakery received recognition for providing refreshments at the meetings, while BBT was thanked for making its community room available at no charge.

The donated meeting space allows the coalition to maintain its no-dues, no-fees approach, removing a potential financial barrier for small-business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs who want to participate.

The coalition’s January meeting will also feature a community networking activity involving bingo cards distributed to participants. Suzanne Gose of Flip Flop Languages will provide a prize for the winner.

The activity encourages participants to continue making connections with local businesses between meetings.

Beyond networking, the coalition uses its social media presence to highlight area businesses. In September, for example, the organization featured Alpine Fitness, recognizing the business for its around-the-clock availability and variety of fitness classes.

The group’s activities reflect a broader effort to encourage local commerce and cooperation among businesses in Alpine and the surrounding Big Bend region.

Its message to participants emphasizes supporting neighboring businesses through referrals and local purchasing.

“Refer local and buy local!” the coalition wrote in its latest meeting recap.

The coalition’s next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the BBT Community Room. Business owners, entrepreneurs and prospective business owners are welcome to participate.
