Sul Ross to stage ‘A Doll’s House, Part 2’ in Alpine

The Sul Ross State University Theatre Program will open its production of Lucas Hnath’s “A Doll’s House, Part 2” on Nov. 13 at the university’s Motion Capture Soundstage.

The play picks up 15 years after the end of Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House,” in which Nora Helmer walks out on her husband and children. In Hnath’s sequel, Nora returns with an urgent request, forcing her and the people she left behind to reckon with her decision. The play revisits Ibsen’s questions about marriage, independence and the roles women are expected to play.

Performances run through Nov. 22, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. The theater program also announced an additional performance Thursday, Nov. 19.

The soundstage is next to the Kokernot Outdoor Theatre on Loop Road. The theater program advises that the play contains mature themes and some profanity. Tickets are available online.
