Fort Davis ISD volleyball team to face Knox City in area playoff Monday

The Fort Davis Independent School District volleyball team will face Knox City in an area playoff game Monday, Nov. 2, at Sterling City High School, with the district announcing an early dismissal and other schedule adjustments to allow students and families to support the team.

The playoff match is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Sterling City High School. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Fort Davis ISD will dismiss students early at 12:20 p.m. Monday to give fans additional time to travel to Sterling City for the game.

The district also announced several changes and activities surrounding the playoff matchup.

A team send-off celebration is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the school, where students, staff and community members are invited to cheer on the volleyball team before its departure.

The district’s lunch schedule will also be adjusted, with lunch served at 12:20 p.m. instead of the regular 11:30 a.m. time.

A small fan bus will be available for high school students who want to attend the game. Seating will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and students must bring their own money for admission and food.

After-school care will remain available for students who need it despite the early dismissal.

The district is encouraging community members to travel to Sterling City and support the team as it continues its postseason run.

The area playoff matchup offers Fort Davis an opportunity to advance further in the Texas high school volleyball playoffs.
