A bus became stuck on U.S. Highway 67 approximately 15 miles north of Presidio, blocking both lanes of traffic, according to an alert issued by the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Joel Nuñez Jr. said sheriff’s office personnel are working with the Texas Department of Transportation to coordinate removal of the bus and reopen the highway.
Motorists traveling through the area are being advised to expect delays, exercise caution and follow directions from emergency personnel.
The sheriff’s office has not provided an estimated time for reopening the roadway.
The circumstances that caused the bus to become stuck were not immediately disclosed. Officials also did not indicate whether anyone was injured or how many passengers were aboard.
The sheriff’s office urged drivers to remain patient while crews work to clear the highway and restore normal traffic flow.
This is a developing situation. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
