Jeff Davis County reported $433,704 in employee health insurance costs for fiscal 2025, according to its annual audit released in September.
The county provided coverage through a Texas Association of Counties plan and paid monthly health premiums of $1,198.84 per covered employee.
That health premium alone equals $14,386.08 for a full year of coverage.
The audit also lists monthly county payments of $29.44 for dental coverage, $9.60 for vision coverage, 26 cents for basic life insurance and 3 cents for accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
Employees could authorize payroll deductions to pay dependent premiums.
The report does not provide a comparable fiscal 2024 health insurance cost, so it does not establish whether the county’s insurance expense increased or decreased.
These employee benefit costs are separate from the report’s health and human services program category. Adding the full insurance total to that category would risk double-counting costs already included in county expenses.
