Texas singer-songwriter Aaron LaCombe will bring his blend of Americana, country and storytelling to Marathon on Friday, Oct. 2, as part of Friday Burger Night at The French Co. Grocer.
The event begins at 5 p.m. at The French Co. Grocer, 111 U.S. 90 in Marathon. The promotional flyer lists LaCombe as the evening’s featured performer, and current tour listings show his Marathon appearance beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to the performance is listed as free.
LaCombe is an Americana singer-songwriter whose music draws heavily from the Texas troubadour tradition. His work has been compared stylistically with songwriters including Guy Clark and Lyle Lovett, with songs often built around experiences from his own life.
Originally from near Detroit, LaCombe began playing his mother’s old guitar as a child and was writing and performing with a rock band by high school. After eventually making his way to Texas, his music evolved toward the stripped-down country, folk and Americana sound that now defines his work. He has released six studio albums and tours extensively around the United States.
LaCombe won the Texana Troubadour songwriting competition in 2021, earning a $1,000 prize, a guitar and the opportunity to produce a single. He has also been recognized by the independent Josie Music Awards, including as the 2023 Country Male Vocalist of the Year, according to biographical material distributed for his performances.
His recent work includes the 2025 single “Just Too Much” and a live release featuring songs including “She Was a Waitress,” “The State Dance of South Carolina” and “The Girl I’ve Got at Home.”
Friday Burger Night is a recurring event at The French Co. Grocer featuring burgers from Far West Texas Cattle Co. and, on many Fridays, live music. The Marathon store’s event calendar describes the weekly gathering as featuring burgers and usually a live performance.
Friday’s Marathon stop comes amid a series of Texas dates for LaCombe. His current schedule also includes October performances in Houston and Kerrville before additional shows later in the fall.
