Ojinaga Noticias reported Monday that Sheinbaum is expected to visit the border city, potentially to inaugurate new postal service facilities and participate in other activities important to the region.
The outlet characterized the information as unofficial, saying locally that it is being discussed “extraoficialmente,” or outside official government channels. As of Tuesday, no confirmation of an Ojinaga visit could be found in announcements from Sheinbaum’s office or other federal government sources.
The possibility of a presidential visit would be significant for the relatively small Chihuahua community directly across the Rio Grande from Presidio, Texas.
