U.S. Border Patrol agents seized more than 5,800 pounds of marijuana and THC products from a tractor-trailer at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint, according to the agency.
Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector said the commercial shipment was manifested as cabinets and tumblers when a Border Patrol K-9 alerted agents to the semi-truck.
A subsequent inspection uncovered about 5,275 pounds of THC oil, 555 pounds of marijuana and 5 pounds of THC wax, according to Border Patrol. The combined weight of the seized contraband was approximately 5,835 pounds.
Photos released by the agency show shrink-wrapped pallets as well as packaged cannabis products, including THC vape and concentrate products.
The Sierra Blanca checkpoint is along Interstate 10 in Hudspeth County, about 85 miles southeast of El Paso. It is operated by the Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector.
Border Patrol said the seized drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The agency did not identify the driver or provide information about arrests or potential criminal charges in its announcement.
