The City of Presidio is accepting applications for a new city administrator to oversee municipal departments, finances, personnel and daily operations.
The full-time, exempt position will remain open until filled. The city said compensation will be competitive and based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
Operating under the rules governing a Texas general-law Type A municipality, the city administrator serves as Presidio’s chief administrative officer and carries out policies established by the mayor and City Council.
The administrator will oversee departments including finance, public works, utilities, public safety and community services. Other responsibilities include preparing City Council agenda materials and administrative reports, managing the municipal budget, administering state and federal grants and supervising city employees.
The position also requires working with county, state and federal agencies and representing the city in public forums, media inquiries and community engagement efforts.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, political science or a related field. A master’s degree in public administration or business administration is preferred.
Municipal management experience is preferred but not required. The city said ideal candidates would have experience as a city administrator, assistant city administrator or department head.
Candidates should also understand the Texas Local Government Code, Texas Open Meetings Act, public information requests and municipal budgeting. English-Spanish bilingual proficiency is strongly encouraged.
Applicants must hold a valid Texas driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of being hired.
