The University of Texas at Austin’s McDonald Observatory has launched a redesigned website featuring updated visitor information, ticketing resources and a live, high-resolution webcam.
The observatory announced the new site in a social media post, describing it as having a “sleek design and fresh functionality.”
Its most prominent new feature is a 360-degree webcam that provides a continuous view of the observatory grounds. Visitors can control the camera view and look around the mountaintop complex at any time of day.
The redesigned homepage also directs visitors to information about tours, programs and ticket purchases.

The observatory is located at 3640 Dark Sky Drive in the Davis Mountains near Fort Davis. Operated by UT Austin, McDonald Observatory is one of Far West Texas’ best-known scientific and tourism destinations. Its remote location and dark skies make it an important center for astronomical research and public stargazing programs.
